Dr. Marcos Rojas honored with SSH Technology Innovator of the Year for Clinical Mind AI
At the International Meeting on Simulation in Healthcare (IMSH) 2026 in San Antonio, Texas, Dr. Marcos Rojas was recognized onstage after receiving the Society for Simulation in Healthcare (SSH) Technology Innovator of the Year Award for the creation of Clinical Mind AI. This award recognizes SSH members whose technological innovation advances the art, science, and practice of healthcare simulation through an invention, modification, or unique application of technology.
Clinical Mind AI was created to address a familiar constraint in medical education: learners need repeated, realistic practice in clinical reasoning, but high-quality simulation is difficult to scale. The platform enables instructors to author cases aligned with their curricular goals, and then provides learners with open-ended, natural-language interactions that resemble real history-taking encounters. The focus is on making reasoning processes visible during the encounter, how learners gather information, update hypotheses, and communicate with patients, while keeping instructor intent at the center of the learning experience.
For Dr. Rojas, the SSH recognition reflects a broader commitment behind Clinical Mind AI: building simulation that is rigorous, usable for instructors, and deployable across diverse training contexts. The award was presented at IMSH 2026 (January 10–14, 2026), the annual meeting convened by SSH for the global healthcare simulation community.
Clinical Mind AI continues to grow as a collaborative effort shaped by educators, learners, and partners who share a goal of strengthening clinical reasoning through practice that is accessible, repeatable, and aligned with real instructional needs.
