Clinical Mind AI connects two primary users: instructors and students. Instructors create clinical case activities within the platform, and Clinical Mind AI uses those materials to generate simulations and interactive learning activities for students. Students then engage with the activity, and when feedback is activated, Clinical Mind AI processes the interaction to provide students with feedback and instructors with insights into student performance.
Each step in this process uses different technologies. These technologies are continuously updated as AI models improve and as we learn from ongoing research. The diagram below shows how we currently handle data across the platform. The final step, in which instructors receive deeper insights from student performance, is currently under development and research and has not yet been deployed to all institutions.
Clinical Mind AI connects instructors and students within an institution-controlled environment. Above these users, an institutional administrator manages access, users, courses, materials, and data. This creates a closed circuit in which each institution maintains governance and autonomy over its own learning environment. Stanford provisions the institutional administrator only; from that point forward, institutions control their users, materials, and data.
